Maryellyn Friel, National Board Certified Teacher, has spent her entire 35-year career as an educator in the field of special education and is currently leading National Board candidates with the National Board Resource Center at ISU.

For four years, Maryellyn worked as a Supervisor for Senior Student Teachers, supporting their growth as they transitioned from university learning to application in the classroom. For 20 years, Maryellyn has led both Initial Candidates and MOC Candidates.

Since 2023, Maryellyn has worked with Edifying Teachers, mentoring National Board Candidates in Texas and teachers in Baltimore, Maryland.
